Below is some helpful information about our school and classroom.
Homework: Your child will have homework Monday through Thursday nights. I will be sending home the assignments every Friday for the following week. This way, if you have a busy week ahead, you may get a jump start on the homework, if you would like. (Monday’s homework is due Tuesday. Tuesday’s homework is due Wednesday, etc. ) Your child is to complete the activity for that particular day and bring it back to school the following morning. The purpose of homework is to review skills that have already been presented and to establish responsible student behavior. Homework should be easy enough for your child to complete independently. Please feel free to check over it and point out any corrections your child may need to make. Remember, good work habits begin when a child is young!
Conduct Grades: Your child will be earning a daily conduct grade, which is written on the homework assignment sheet. Please praise outstanding conduct grades!
3=Behaved appropriately 2=Needed a few reminders 1=Inappropriate behavior
Supplies: Most of the school supplies will be used by the whole class, so please do not write your child’s name on the items. A supply list has been included in your parent packet.
Behavior: We will be using a program called Class Dojo this year. Students will each get an account that will track their behavior by earning and losing points throughout the week. The points will be based on the different components of CHOMP. You will have access to your child's behavior daily and will be sent weekly reports. At the end of the week, students will receive a classroom dollar for each point that they receive.
Class Store: All students will be rewarded for excellent conduct and homework habits by earning “class dollars” at the end of each week. Students will enjoy shopping at our Class Store every week!
‘Specials’ Schedule: Everyday students will be going to a ‘Special.’ These classes include: P.E., Music, Media, Science Lab, Guidance, Math Enrichment and Art.
Lunch: Our scheduled Lunchtime is will fluctuate between 12:25-1:15.
Snacks: Your child may bring in a small, nutritious snack to eat during our snack time. Drinks are also welcome. Please avoid sending in red juice and sugary snacks.
Friday Folders: Your child will be bringing home a folder every Friday that will contain work that has been completed by your child. After reviewing your child’s work, please keep the completed work at home. It is very important that the folder is signed and returned to class each Monday.
Conferences/Report Cards: Parent/teacher conferences are held at least twice a year. The first conference is scheduled for the end of September. The second conference will be held toward the end of the year so that we may evaluate and communicate the progress your child has made. Additional conferences may be scheduled as the need arises. Report cards will be sent home on the last day of each quarter.
Student Check In/Out: Please stop by the office to check your child in or out of school if he/she is tardy or leaving early. The office will call our room and your child will meet you in the lobby. Children will not be released from the room unless it has been cleared through the office first. Children will not be able to be checked out after 2:30. Please keep in mind that we are learning everyday until the bell rings!
Attendance: If your child is absent from school, please send in a note the day your child returns to school.
